12/19 - The 2015 Media Guide is now available.
12/1 - Just a reminder that the Out of the Blocks track banquet is this coming Sunday, Dec. 7.
A special scholarship has been created in honor of Louis Zamperini, the Louis Zamperini Endowed Scholarship Campaign. It will be awarded annually to a male or female track & field athlete who best epitomizes Louie’s talents and spirit. Please visit the scholarship website to discover how you can participate.
11/23 - I just wanted to encourage everyone to visit our USC Track Twitter feed on a daily basis. Coach Nieto has been posting daily with new photos. It's really great!

11/15 - Former Trojan FB and Track athlete, Don Colich passed away this week. He was 100. He was an avid supporter of the Track program. Both of Don's sons, Tom & John, were also Trojan track athletes throwing the shot and disc (Tom was All-American in 1969 in the shot). Services are scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 18. 10/28 - For some of you, the name Jim Stangeland may not ring a bell. Better known for his FB accomplishments, Jim's USC track connection runs deep. From AZ, Jim was the coach at N. Phoenix HS; was Ernie Bullard and Jim Brewer's PV coach (Brewer was first prep to clear 15') and was suceeded there by Vern Wolfe. [Jim, Vern, and J. Walter Smith all entered the service together. Jim would became a pilot.] A pole vaulter himself, Jim would later coach Jeff Ryan at USC to a vault of 17' 10. We lost Jim last week, he was 93. [OBITUARY]
10/26 - I was introduced to a new book this week, "Leon Patterson: A California Story." Leon was a Trojan All-American in the discus. Here's a primer: The life of Trojan discus All-America Leon Patterson is examined in the new biography, Leon Patterson: A California Story (Devil Mountain Books). Patterson died at 21 in 1954 shortly after placing third in the NCAA Championship meet, then fans and teammates alike learned that he had been terminally ill and had known it since he was 18. 10/14 - Lost in the mix of last Thursday's golf tournament was the victory of the USC Women's Cross Country team over UCLA, 27-28!! Congratulations ladies!
10/11 - Homecoming is Sat. Oct. 18. Come on down and join the team for the campus festivities, 11:30am-2:30pm. We're serving up tacos and all the fixings ($10). We're at location #23. Homecoming map.

9/26 - Former USC Track star Henry Aihara passed away earlier this month. A 3-time All American, Henry was a member of two National Championship teams. Obituary.

8/31 - A memorial service for Ernie Bullard will be held on Sat. Sept. 13, 12:00pm at USC in Town & Gown. You are invited to attend.
8/22 - Also received news on Bob Sbordone who died earlier this month. As I get more info I'll post it up. Bob was a 2X All American in the javelin in '60 & '61. UPDATE: Full Bob Sbordone obituary.
8/21 - Just received word of the passing of Ernie Bullard. A member of the 1958 NCAA Championship team, Ernie earned All-American honors in the pole vault and would later be the Trojan track coach from 1985-90. Services and further information pending. ADDENDUM.
8/20 - USC hires Jamie Nieto as new jumps coach. Jamie is a two-time Olympian and three-time All-American at E. Michigan. Ranked in the US top ten for 15 years, he has a PR of 7' 8! Welcome aboard Jamie.
7/24 - The city of Torrance will have a memorial service for Louie Zamperini on July 31.

7/15 - Nice recap on how some of our incoming recruits did at the Junior Nationals last week.
7/3 - Former USC track star and WWII hero Louie Zamperini died today, he was 97. A 3-time All American, Louie won the NCAA mile in '38 & '39 and was a member of the 1936 Olympic team. I'll link up more information as it becomes available.

6/23 - Updates will be few as the college season has ended. We'll post-up newsy stuff as it pertains to the team. Next up though is the National Meet, June 26-29 in Sacramento, CA.

5/30 - I just received word that hammer thrower Remy Conaster went in for an emergency appendectomy this week and will not compete in the Regionals.

5/14 - Just received word that USC world record-setting sprinter Mel Patton, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and five-time NCAA champion, died on May 9 in Fallbrook, Calif. He was 89. Services are pending.
5/10 - The Multis start at 12pm today. Entry list.
5/6 - Next up, the PAC-12s. The decathlon & heptathlon start this weekend.
5/4 - The Trojans come away with a split against the Bruins. The Women of Troy top the Bruins 95-68. The men make it closer than some predicted, losing 89-74. Complete results.

12/30 - More bad news, Ernie Bullard, former Trojan All-American and head coach ('85-90) suffered a heart attack this week. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated. More news as I get it.
12/30 - It is with great sadness to annouce the passing of Trojan great Wilbur "Moose" Thompson. Moose won the Olympic gold medal for the shot put at the '48 Olympics and was a two-time All American while at USC. He was 92. Services are pending and that information will be posted once arrangements have been made.

12/18 - Coach Allice inducted into Hall of Fame.
12/16 - There's a special call-out to past All Americans and Gold Medalists. With the rennovations happening to Heritage Hall, we're seeking to return all those bannister medallions to AA and medalist athletes. Contact Jim Yee (email) to claim your medalion.
